Albion Islington Fusion of Taste Festival
Etobicoke: Toronto is gearing up for the 6th Annual Albion Islington Square Fusion of Taste Festival.
This fun family festival will feature amazing traditions from South Asia, the West Indies and from around the world. The party is happening at Albion Road and Islington Avenue on July 21 from 12:00pm to 10:30pm.
Organizers from the Albion Islington Square Business Improvement Area (BIA) have promised a mystery world record attempt and will be releasing details in early July.
The BIA’s Board of Management and Councillor Vincent Crisanti (Ward 1 – Etobicoke North) expect more than 50,000 people will turn out again this year to enjoy Bhangra, Bollywood and West Indian dancing and live musical performances by Prita Chhabra, Parichay, SW Storm, Music Fever Musical Group, Shiamak Davar Dance Group and many more.
“We are closing off the streets and are ready for another Fusion of Taste Festival,” said Councillor Crisanti. “This has always been a great event for families and this year, there are some very exciting things in store for everybody.”
The event will also mark induction of legendary professional wrestler Tiger Jeet Singh, Tiger Ali Singh and boxer George Chuvalo to the Albion Islington Square Wall of Fame.
The festival will feature delicious food from around the world, face painting for the children, a magic show, fire breathers, clowns, stilt walkers, balloon sculptures, buskers and amusement rides.
“It’s important that this event appeals to everyone,” said Albion Islington Square BIA Chairman Shamsher Singh. “In Toronto, we say that diversity is our strength. There is so much happening at this year’s festival, I know people from all ages and walks of life will have fun.”
This year’s special features are the On the Spot Children’s Drawing Competition and the Kids Corner, where children can meet and greet Dr. Seuss’s Thing 1 and Thing 2.
