Ex Air India Official To Oversee US Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
New York: A former Air India official, Andy Bhatia, has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of the New York-based Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan-USA. Committed to promoting Indian culture and India’s rich heritage and art forms, Bhatia will bring to the Bhavan 30 years of sales, marketing and management experience for Air-India.
After serving Air-India, Bhatia served for 2 years as Regional Sales Manager – Northeast USA for Kingfisher Airlines.
Bhatia has served as Chairman of Public Relations for the American Society of Travel Agents and Connecticut Westchester Professional Travel Association; Board member of the New York & Chicago Chapters of the Pacific Area Travel Agents (PATA).
The US branch of the Bhavan was established in New York on October 2, 1981. Dr. P. Jayaraman was the founder Executive Director who served the Bhavan for 30 years. The Bhavan is committed to promoting Indian culture, values and philosophy, and enriching the various Indian art forms; music, dance, drama, painting and films. It is dedicated to creating awareness of India’s rich heritage and traditions. H. R. Shah is the Chairman of Bhavan, USA, Kenny Desai is the Vice-Chairman and Dr. Navin C. Mehta is the President of the Trustee Committee.
