Indo-Canadian Sensation Lends Voice To Award-winning Documentary
Toronto: Indo-Canadian music sensation Shweta Subram is in the news again and for all the good reasons. Shweta has lent her voice to a documentary that has already won an award at the L.A. Femme International Film Festival for Best Documentary.
The Canadian documentary ‘Bas! Beyond the Red Light’, features a track called ‘Nacho Jhoom Jhoom Ke’ sung by Shweta and composed by Tarun Nayar of Delhi 2 Dublin fame. This song is a celebration of 14 girls, forced into prostitution, rescued by Rescue Foundation (India). The documentary will be featured in the upcoming International Indian Film Academy celebrations to be held in Toronto later this year.
Speaking on the documentary, Shweta said she accepted the role gladly when offered the part. “I was just thrilled to lend my voice to the film which truly touched my heart,” said Shweta. The film deals with the business of child trafficking and Shweta was glad she could contribute in some way to create an awareness of this evil. According to Shweta, the track has been received very well by fans and has opened further avenues for Shweta, who was a secretive about what it was… for now.
Shweta has also moved into writing her own music and will soon launch her CD. “I will be launching the first track on cdbaby.com and will be performing this number during the Canadian Music Week in early March,” said Shweta. She has completed two songs already called Jee Le Live Life (produced by Parichay, composed by Shweta Subram, Vikas Kohli & Parichay) and Ajooba Your Wonder (produced by Parichay and composed by Shweta).
People who want an early preview of her new CD can catch Shweta during the Canadian Music Week that runs from March 9 – 13, 2011 in Toronto. She will be performing on March 12 at The Hard Rock Cafe in Toronto. Tamara Bally`s Dance school is performing with Shweta.
