Jhanvi Wins Karnataka Cricket Tournament
Mississauga: Kanada Sports Team Inc organized its Third IIBS KST T-20 cup on 21st, 22nd, 28th & 29th July 2012. 12 teams from in and around GTA participated in the tournament.
The tournament was played on league basis with six teams in two different groups. The two teams from each qualified for the playoffs. The semifinalist from Group A were Mississauga Tigers and Patel X1 teams and teams from Group B were Jhanvi X1 & TCS Titans. The semifinal and finals were played on 29th July 2012 at Huron Heights Park Cricket Ground in Mississauga.
After winning toss Mississauga Tigers elected to bat first and Scored 108 runs for 9 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Ravi scored 28 runs with excellent hitting for Mississauga Tigers and Ahsan Umer from Jhanvi X1 took two wickets by conceding 09 runs in 4 overs. With excellent bowling in first 10 overs Mississauga Tigers restricted Jhanvi X1 to 53 runs for 5 wickets. However, due to superb batting display by Ritesh Patel, Jhanvi took away match from Mississauga Tigers. Jhanvi X1 successfully chased the 108 runs in 15.5 overs. Ritesh Patel who scored unbeaten 40 runs and had good partnership of 60 runs with Mehul ensured the Jhanvi X1 win the 3rd Edition of IIBS KST T20 cup. Mehul of Jhanvi X1 was the man of the match for his outstanding all round performance in the finals. Srikanth from TCS Titans awarded as the Best Batsman of the tournament who scored 136 runs in 5 league matches and Imran of Mississauga Tigers was the Best Bowler who took 10 wickets in 5 league matches. Ritesh Patel was declared as MVP of tournament. Hitesh Patel of Patel X1 received the “Best Catch” award and Pradeep of Lake Ground champions was awarded “Best Keeper” of the IIBS KST T-20 tournament. Fair play award presented to 5 teams,namely, TCS Titans, Spartans,United X1, Patel X1 and Burlington Cricket Club.
Individual awards to players and volunteers were presented by Praveen Kumar Tyagi,Director IIBS.
