Chandigarh-: Mystery shrouds the health of Ashutosh Maharaj, the leader of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan, a sect based in Nurmahal. While doctors who attended on him declared him clinically dead on Wednesday, sect spokesman Swami Vishalanand insisted at a press conference that Ashutosh had gone into samadhi or deep meditation. WIth this latest development, various political leaders including Bajwa, Capt Amarinder, Manish Tewari withdrew their condolence messages issued in this regard.
“We believe that he is alive and Swamiji has just gone into samadhi mode since 12.30 am on Wednesday. He had done the same a few years ago as well for three days,” the spokesman said, denying that the sect leader had died.As per a report of Hindustan Times, He, however clarified that a team of special doctors called from Apollo Hospital, Ludhiana, to check on the sect head has declared Ashutosh Maharaj “clinically dead”.
“Doctors are of the view that clinically he is not alive. But when a person goes into samadhi, such symptoms are shown,” he said.
Swami Vishalanand appealed to sect followers to maintain calm. “Our followers should practise the religious activities suggested by Swamiji. We will keep on updating them,” he added.
With followers gathering at the dera headquarters in Nurmahal since Wednesday morning, the administration swung into action and tightened security, turning the town into a police fortress as a preventive measure
