Seniors Gala At Shri Ram Mandir
Mississauga: Every year Shri Ram Mandir in collaboration with Canada Hindu Heritage Centre celebrates senior’s day in a big way with a sit in dinner. This year’s event, open to seniors of 60 years and over, is proving to be extremely popular amongst seniors in GTA with all available seats initially allocated being booked out within days.
The advance planning of this great event took about one month. Pt Roopnauth Sharma the spiritual leader of Shri Ram Mandir personally coordinated all such activities. This was the fourth such celebration when over 275 seniors participated in this grand senior gala function. On this occasion, Pandit Roopnauth Sharma the spiritual leader of Shri Ram Mandir welcomed all the seniors and acknowledged their ongoing contributions to family, workplaces and communities. This exclusive event was full of live performances and entertainment from dancers, musicians and singers, who wowed the audience with their amazing songs and the solo dance performances. The seniors were served with a delicious four-course 14-dish variety dinner. The dinner was entirely free of cost as in the past.
The entire banquet hall, seats and dining tables were decorated with different colors and photographs of renowned movie actors, enabling the seniors to revisit their memory lane. The seating arrangement was this year different from the previous year as each table was dedicated to a movie star. Many seniors remembered their happy days when they were young and could persuade their mothers that being too sick to go to school yet well enough to make their way to cinema theatre to see a movie of their choice. Those were the old days and we can still visualize many of our favourite heroes who caught our youthful eye, when a receptionist volunteer accompanied us here to our favourite hero’s table.
