Shloka Saini Is Markham Bollywood
Shloka Saini, a Grade 11 student from St. Robert’s Catholic High School, Markham recently won the coveted Miss Markham Bollywood Pageant which was organized by Markham IIFA Buzz Events on June 18th. The talented sixteen-year old from the York region performed a fusion of Indian classical and Bollywood dance as a tribute to Bollywood’s yesteryear divas Madhuri Dixit and Sri Devi. The win gave her the opportunity to perform at the IIFA Awards Main Stage on Saturday, June 25th, representing the premier of Ontario, Dalton McGuinty, and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism. The act designed to showcase a mix of all cultures so as to showcase the diversity of Ontario, saw Shloka and 3 others representing India, opening the performances, with Shloka taking centre-stage.
