TD Festival Of South Asia In Gerrard St.
Toronto: The TD Festival of South Asia offers a window into the East for the visitor to celebrate and experience the culture and cuisine of South Asia. From Bhangra to Bollywood music, this event has all the ingredients to make festival visitors feel like they are walking down the streets of New Delhi or Karachi.
The TD Festival of South Asia takes place on Gerrard Street East between Greenwood and Coxwell streets on July 7 and 8 from 2 p.m. -11 p.m.
Providing phenomenal entertainment, the main stage showcases dancing and the beautiful, authentic South Asian music often performed in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. On Saturday evening, the TD Stage will once again showcase South Asia’s Got Talent. This element was very popular with young people from the South Asian community last year, with attendees shouting their ‘votes’ for their favourite performer. Off-stage, “tastes” will be provided by 20 different restaurants. As always, there is lots of entertainment for the children.
The Gerrard India Bazaar, home to the TD Festival of South Asia, is the largest South Asian bazaar in North America. “We are very proud to showcase our cuisine, culture and fashions to Toronto and look forward to welcoming everyone to the TD Festival of South Asia,” says Mr. Kapoor, Chair of the Gerrard India Bazaar.
“We are honoured to once again be part of this wonderful festival that highlights the South Asian culture,” says Scott Mullin, Vice President, Community Relations. “This festival is a great way for everyone to celebrate culture and experience new tastes, sights and sounds,”
