Prominent Brampton Lawyer Murarilal Thapliyal Gets Outstanding Asian Canadian Award
Well-known community worker and prominent Brampton lawyer Murarilal Thapliyal was an award-recipient at the 16th Annual Gala hosted by Canadian Multicultural Council.
With the theme “Honouring the Pioneers”, the prestigious event was attended by over
a thousand elite Canadians of Asian origins on May 5th, 2019 at Premier Ballroom &
Convention Center, Richmond Hill.
Representing 23 Asian nations, 14 outstanding Canadian belonging to various walks of
life such as entrepreneurs, teacher, settlement provider, volunteer, community activist,
science fiction writer, lawyer, language instructor, accountant, medical officer, dancer
and medical surgeon were facilitated by members of all three forms of governments, the
business community, York and Toronto Regional Police.
Mr Jae, Chong, President of Canadian Multicultural Council and Henry Lee event Chair facilitated the award-recipients.
Mr Thapliyal, who is also a candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada representing
the riding of Brampton West for the federal elections this fall, was nominated by the
National Association of Indo-Canadians.
A community activist, Mr Thapliyal is known for his charity work helping the diverse community of Brampton West, especially the seniors and women. For the last 10 years he has been actively involved promoting the various causes and provides legal services to those who are marginalized
“I am very humbled to receive this prestigious honour,” said Mr Thapliyal during his
acceptance speech. He emphasized on the importance of multiculturalism and unity. “I
am committed to make a difference in the lives of people in Brampton West, which has
not been representated properly,” he said.
The event was diversity at its best with attendees in colourful ethnic attires, beautiful
performances from east Asian nations and a 10-course dinner in the celebration of Asian
Heritage Month.
