F**k the police Eh!
Ontario NDP Candidate Gurratan Singh is a brother of federal NDP party leader Jagmeet Singh who has a desire to be Prime Minister of Canada one day.
On the other hand, his brother who was pursuing religious studies later earned his “LAW” degree from York University. Now, a candidate of the Ontario NDP party from Brampton West he hopes to win and be a part of Ontario Government soon.
How sad is that the government and members of parliament bring bills to change laws, policies or make new laws, and the police officers follow those laws, to deal with criminals, violence, traffic, shooting, stabbing, just name it.
We go to sleep every night, we drive on the streets 24/7, we walk on the sides walks, our kids and we play at the parks, secure in the knowledge we will be protected from harm. We are confident that the police will not come into our homes and take us away without due process of law. As their badges say, they are here to “serve and protect.”
They serve regardless of the risk of potential harm to themselves. They have sworn to uphold the law. Their families and friends worry more about them than the officers do themselves. They are proud to serve and never hesitate to answer a call. That is their job, their duty, and truly their calling in life.
Yes! These police officers also have families, small kids, but to protect and serve, they face so much while they are on duty, they never care about the small kids, a wife, mother, father, at home, many of the police officers sacrifice their life on the line of duty.
It’s so shameful and disrespectful calling or holding a banner like this such as Gurratan Singh holding “F**k the police” It’s so shameful not only for him Who wants to serve the community, it’s for the whole Sikh community. Another question is that if he wins the election, he will be taking the oath to: I solemnly swear that I will be loyal to Her Majesty the Queen and to Canada, and that I will uphold the Constitution of Canada and that I will, to the best of my ability, preserve the peace, prevent offences and discharge my other duties as (Gurratan Singh) faithfully, impartially and according to law.
So How he will be faithful to the law? and preserve the peace in the community? while holding such F**k the police banners in his hands. NDP leader Andrea Horwath needs to get serious about this, and take the action – let him go.
Andrea Horwath has an opportunity to show that she will not tolerate the values underlying this image in her party. If we are talking about the law, the question is that, “is it illegal to hold a banner or yell at the police that “f**k the police”? No, it’s not illegal. But It is not be the smartest thing to do. Most people agree that it is legal, but it will often subject you to additional scrutiny from the police.
Singh has displayed behavior and made jibes with the intention of insulting the police, who need to be shielded from this type of language.

The Toronto Sun reported: “Former Toronto Police chief Julian Fantino said he recognizes exactly what this is.
“As someone who spent over 40 years as a police officer in Ontario, the only time I recall facing such hateful rhetoric directed at police is when confronting anarchists — the goons who usually came out to incite breaches of the peace,” said the Toronto Police chief from 2000-2005, who later went into serve as a Conservative MP and cabinet minister.
Fantino dismissed Singh’s apology.
“It’s another example of a cop hater in pursuit of a soft landing at Queens Park — where he doesn’t belong!”
Toronto Police Association President Mike McCormack said “I don’t think this apology is sufficient” and being “sorry (he) got caught, not sorry for what (he) did” is lame.
