• Over the last five years, the City and its partners – including conservation authorities, the Region of Peel, school boards and the development industry – have planted, on average, 43,000 trees each year in Brampton.
• Over a quarter million trees have been planted in Brampton since 2014. Mayor Patrick Brown said:“Brampton City Council has proclaimed September as Brampton Tree Month! Brampton is a Green City, and we are actively working to protect our city’s urban forest and plant One Million Trees by 2040. Trees provide numerous benefits to all, including cleaner air, reducing the effects of climate change, increasing property values, and beautifying our community.”
Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 & 5; Chair, Community Services, City of Brampton, added: “Happy Tree Month, Brampton! As part of this impactful month, I encourage everyone to take a walk and get to know Brampton’s Natural Heritage System, plant a tree and track it in our Tree Tracking Tool, learn more about sustainable forest management, and explore www.brampton.ca/trees”.
