Brampton Seniors Pay Tribute To Slain Pulwama Troopers


BRAMPTON: Members of the New Hope Senior Citizens Club of Brampton offered prayers and tributes to CRPF troopers who were victims of a brutal terrorist attack at Pulwama in India.

Members lit candles during their monthly meeting at the ‘Simply South’ restaurant in Brampton on Sunday, February 17.  Patriotic songs were also sung by members recognizing the selfless sacrifices made by Indian paramilitary forces.

 The meeting was attended by over 80 members. Snacks and lunch was graciously sponsored by Mr. Satish Thakkar and Mrs. Rimple Thakkar – proprietors of ‘Simply South’ Restaurant located at the Airport – Lacoste Apna Plaza in Brampton. The Thakkar family has been a role model by supporting many noble causes in the society including raising $1 million for the Brampton Hospital. The Club membership wished both of them continued success, good health and prosperity.

Invited guests who graced the occasion included Mr. Surinder Mittal, Mr. Mohna Brar, Mr. Manan Gupta (Road Today), Mr. Nitin Chopra (Prime Asia), Mr. Deepinder Singh (PTC) amongst others. Mr. Shambhu Dutt Sharma, President of the Club, thanked all members and guests for their presence and good wishes.

New Hope Senior Citizens Club of Brampton is one of the most vibrant South Asian seniors club in the GTA.
