BRAMPTON, Ont. – One person is dead after a collision in Brampton, Ont., early Friday that police say led to a carjacking and an attempted busjacking.
It all began with a three-vehicle collision at about 1 a.m. (near McLaughlin Road and Steeles Avenue) where paramedics say a male died at the scene and another person suffered serious injuries.
Toronto police say following the crash, one of the people involved apparently carjacked a vehicle and fled the scene, but it was unclear whether the vehicle was involved in the collision.
About 20 minutes later, police say that vehicle struck a pedestrian in north-end Toronto (near Kipling and Steeles Avenue), who was taken to hospital in critical condition
The vehicle continued eastbound and was involved in a multi-vehicle collision a short time later (near Weston Road and Steeles Avenue).
Police say at that point, the suspect left the vehicle and tried to steal a Toronto transit bus but was arrested at the scene and taken to a trauma centre with unspecified injuries. (CP24, CITY)
