MISSISSAUGA: Sardar Jasjit Singh Bhullar, a well-known personality of the community and long-time President of Ontario Khalsa Darbar Dixie Road Gurdwara, passed away in a Toronto hospital on Tuesday.
Bhullar has been suffering from cancer for some time now. He was 67. Sardar Bhullar’s contribution to Canada in the social, political, sports and religious spheres will always be remembered.
His younger brother Gurinder Singh Bhullar said that Jasjit Singh was suffering from prostate cancer and his condition had deteriorated during the past two weeks.
He arrived in Canada in 1978 from Punjab, India, and he contributed immensely to the betterment of the community, and in particular to the Ontario Khalsa Darbar Gurdwara.
Tributes are pouing in from all across North America. Flowers of devotion are also being presented to Bhullar in remembrance of his services Ruby Sahota MP – Brampton North posted on social media: “Uncle (Jasjit Singh Bhullar) was near and dear to many, as he was a dedicated community volunteer, and his kindness and integrity made him one of a kind.
For me, Uncle Ji will always have a special place in my heart. My life up until now is full of memories of him and without his constant encouragement, I might not be where I am today. My heart goes out to the entire Bhullar family.”
A virtual visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27. A private funeral will be held by the family on Sunday, February 28, followed by Antim Ardas at the Ontario Khalsa Darbar.
