As part of a new temporary public art installation in the downtown core, trees on Mississauga Celebration Square will be coloured blue onOctober 1.
The Blue Trees project allows residents to take part in the creative process. Participants will be given electric blue pigment to colour the trees in the upper and lower areas of the Square. Another community colouring day will also take place on October 2 (see details below).
In addition to the community art activation on the Square, the artist behind The Blue Trees, Konstantin Dimopoulos, will be featured in an artist talk at the Living Arts Centre on September 29.
The project uses an environmentally safe blue water-based pigment to temporarily alter the colour of trees. It causes no damage or harmto the trees or those who apply it. The longevity of the project is weather dependent.
