Fire in northern Ontario causes death due to lack of equipment


In northern Ontario, five people perished in a house fire has no effective means or equipment for fire fighting.

A spokesman for the chief and council of the community at Big Trout Lake says they have a fire truck that doesn’t work, a fire hall that was never completed and no fire hoses.

A single mom and four of her children — age six, seven, nine and 12 — were killed in the blaze.The cause of the has yet to be determined.Seamus O’Regan, the federal minister of Indigenous services, has expressed his condolences, saying his department is working to provide assistance to the community.
