ORONTO- City Councillor Jon Burnside (Ward 26 Don Valley West), City of Toronto staff and members of the community officially reopened Playground Paradise in Flemingdon Community Centre o Sunday following the completion of a significant renovation. The family-friendly reopening gave the public an opportunity to celebrate the new features of Playground Paradise and participate in an afternoon of play.
New features of the playground include child-friendly, modern play areas as well as a new toddler zone and vertical play maze. Playground Paradise is a two-storey indoor play structure designed to promote active, inclusive and age appropriate play that challenges children’s physical, social, cognitive and decision-making skills.
“It is my pleasure to reopen Playground Paradise in the Flemingdon community,” said Councillor Burnside. “Toronto children and their families once again have the opportunity to access an affordable indoor play space.”
“Parks, Forestry and Recreation is committed to providing affordable and enjoyable places to be active that meet the diverse needs of users,” said Janie Romoff, General Manager of Parks, Forestry and Recreation. “Facilities like Playground Paradise ensure we maintain Toronto’s place as a premiere provider of parks and recreation opportunities for residents across the city.”
The City opened Playground Paradise, its first indoor playground, in 1995 with support from community partners. The play structure operated from 1995 to 2017 when it was temporarily closed for renovation.
Children up to age 12 can enjoy the newly renovated Playground Paradise. It offers an affordable, drop-in play space with an admission fee of $3 per child. Playground Paradise is a shoe-free facility; everyone must bring and wear socks. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
