BRAMPTON: Hindu Heritage Celebration Foundation (HHCF) a non-profit organisation hosted an impressive flag-raising ceremony and reception at the Brampton City Hall on Tuesday, November 13 to remember, celebrate and educate future generations about Hindu Canadians and their rich cultural heritage.
Several local elected officials and dignitaries were in attendance to mark the occasion including Mayor Elect – Patrick Brown, Regional Councillor Elain Moore (Acting Mayor), Regional Councillor Gael Miles, Councillor Pat Fortini, Councillor Jeff Bowman, Councillor Doug Whillans, Sonia Sidhu MP Brampton South, Kamal Khera MP Brampton West, Ruby Sahota MP Brampton North, Regional Councillor Elect – Paul Vicente and Councillor Elect – Charmaine Williams.
A special greetings message was also sent in by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Representatives from prominent organisations like Canadian Hindu Association, World Brahman Federation of Canada, UPICA, Akhand Bharti Club, Hindu Sabha Temple, New Hope Seniors Club, Sanatani Sena, Gauri Shankar Temple, Hindu Heritage Centre, Hanuman Mandir and Bovaird Banquet Hall supported the event.
Hindu Heritage Celebration Foundation Board members include Dave Kapil, Rakesh Joshi, Manan Gupta, Madhsudan Lama, Peeyush Gupta, Nik Mengi, Virender Rathee, Anil Sharma, Madhu Sharda and Amit Bhatt.
Ontario is home to a large and vibrant Hindu community, and since the first Hindu immigrants arrived in Canada in the early 20th century, Hindu Canadians have made significant contributions across all fields: science, education, medicine, law, politics, media, business, culture and sports.
The Province of Ontario, City of Brampton, City of Ottawa and many other municipalities across the province have proclaimed the month of November as Hindu Heritage Month recognizing the important contributions that Hindu Canadians have made to Ontario society.
Hindu Heritage Celebration Foundation has thanked all guests for attending the event and making it a great success.
