BRAMPTON: The Haryana Association of North America (HANA) has conferred its annual ‘Haryana Rattan’ award on Sandeep Goel, President and CEO of ICICI Bank Canada.
The awards ceremony was part of the organization’s 2020 Gala held at the Courtyard by Marriott Brampton.
The award is given annually to Indo-Canadians who hail from the northern Indian state of Haryana and who have excelled in their field of work and contributed to the community.
HANA is a not for profit organization representing Indo-Canadians from Haryana. HANA helps the Haryanvi people in networking and transitioning into mainstream Canadian life after they settle in Canada.
The organization promotes Haryanvis in many fields and supports measures that help them in retaining their culture, customs and traditions.
Kuldeep Sharma, Chair of HANA, said: “This year it was a very unique experience as we celebrated the evening with COVID-19 regulations in place”.
This meant, not over ten people besides other restrictions like wearing masks and maintaining distance. The event was attended by Consul General India in Toronto, Apoorva Srivastava, Kuldeep Sharma, Jitender Kaushik Director of HANA, Mrs. Kamlesh Vashisht, Member of HANA, Sandeep Gupta who was awarded the title of “Haryana Rattan” 2019, Mrs. Bindu Goel, Kishore Kumar, Regional Head Sales of ICICI, and Jatinder Singh Asst. VP, NRI Services at ICICI.
Compared with last year’s 320 gala guests, this year’s attendance was restricted to only 10. A variety of areas of cooperation with other Indo-Canadian communities was discussed with the main focus being investments in and from Haryana.
