Outback, Forester & Crosstrek Models Help Brand Post Record Month For Seventh Year
MISSISSAUGA: The dog days of summer proved to be as hot as ever for Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI), with the brand posting its best August on record as it chases its seventh straight annual sales record.
SCI finished the month with sales of 5,035 units — a 1.7 per cent increase compared to August 2017. Helping the brand get there were particularly strong sales across its SUV lineup, with the Outback posting its best ever August, with 989 units sold, and the Forester outpacing August 2017, with 1,075 units sold.
In terms of outright volume, the smallest sport utility in the Subaru lineup, the Crosstrek, continues to be a shining star for Subaru Canada, with 1,138 units sold in August — the most of any of Subaru’s nameplates. The all-new 2019 Ascent three-row SUV is also finding its fair share of homes in driveways across Canada, contributing to SCI’s eighth straight monthly sales record.
“At Subaru Canada, our strategy is a simple one: To position the brand as an appealing alternative to our mainstream competitors by creating vehicles that deliver what Canadian consumers want,” said SCI chairman, president and CEO Yasushi Enami. “The proof that this strategy is working lies in our continued sales momentum, and I couldn’t be prouder of our ongoing accomplishments as we continue to grow as a brand.”
Across Canada, all regions posted stronger sales than the same month last year, with Ontario and Western regions both posting their best August sales ever. Not to be outdone, Quebec and Atlantic regions stayed the course to keep the cross-Canada momentum in full swing. The best ever August for the brand continues a string of record-setting months as it looks to set another annual record. Last year, SCI set its sixth consecutive annual sales record with 54,570 units sold.
