‘India Studies Summer Youth Program 2020’

TORONTO: An India Studies ‘Online’ Youth Summer Program”, 2020, which took place from 6th-10th July, for students from schools/colleges/universities in Ontario has been hailed as an outstanding success.

A team of academics, professionals, practitioners, scholars, researchers, and community members from Canada and India who believes that sharing knowledge and providing correct information is the most important education that can be given to the younger generation participated and supported in conducting the program.

This youth summer program was prepared to share knowledge and clarity about different aspects of India: The Great Nation.

This program was supported by academic institutions, think tanks from India and Canada, community groups like the Jadhavpur Association for International Relations, India International Centre of Canada and Indian Ministry of Tourism, as well as, consulate general of India in Toronto.

The India Studies Youth Summer Programme, generated tremendous interest among the students, with many wanting to visit India and explore options for educational and research activities.

The topics discussed during the India studies program starting from the geography, the ancient and modern history, the political system, the technological advancements in space science, in information and communication technologies, about the legal system, the economic developments, the education system that exists in India today, lectures delivered also on India’s soft and hard power and about Indo-Canadian diaspora.

This youth summer program generated deep interest among the youth who all attended this for five consecutive days. Both Indian and non-Indian origin students participated in the study program and understood various aspects of India and its rich heritage.

The last day of the program was followed by a quiz with full house participation by 47 students to end the program on a successful note.

This type of initiative encourages to increase people-to-people contacts, share positive knowledge about the development process in India, encourages millennials to explore and recognize the potential for joint activities, fills the gap by sharing positive information and understanding about Incredible India, a spokesperson for the organizers said.
