Outlander PHEV Takeover Of EV Discovery Centre Latest Example Of Grassroots Campaign

Mississauga: In an effort to boost awareness of electrified vehicle technology and the benefits of plug-in hybrid vehicles, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada hosted the Hybrid Discovery Event at the EV Discovery Centre in North York on August 17 and 18 featuring the Outlander PHEV.

Attendees were invited to test drive Canada’s best-selling plug-in hybrid*, Outlander PHEV, learn more about hybrid plug-in vehicle technology and enjoy giveaways, BBQ and ice cream.

The event is the company’s latest effort in boosting awareness of the benefits of plug-in hybrid technology. Mitsubishi Motors has also conducted two cross-country tours of special free events for consumers looking to find out more about the game-changing Outlander PHEV.

“Our research shows that Canadians want to purchase hybrid vehicles but don’t understand the technology,” said Steve Carter, Director, Marketing, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada.

“We are finding that as we build more awareness, particularly when consumers actually drive the Outlander PHEV, they find a compelling reason to consider it for their next purchase. The top reasons for purchasing the Outlander PHEV is fuel economy and environmental benefits.”

Since Mitsubishi Motors launched the all-new 2018 Outlander PHEV in Canada, it’s unique position in offering no compromises in SUV capability from cargo to towing to 100% electric 4WD and fuel efficiency has resonated with Canadian consumers helping it to capture about a quarter of the plug-in segment market share and bringing new consumers into the electrified vehicle segment.

Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada research shows that 94 per cent of Outlander PHEV customers are new to the electrified vehicle segment and of that total, 47 per cent were previously driving a gas-only SUV.

Also featured at the event was a sneak peek into Mitsubishi Motors Augmented Reality which will be available in Mitsubishi dealerships in the fall.

The innovative technology, showcases object-based recognition which overlays virtual animation on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to highlight the sophisticated plug-in Hybrid Electric System with Two Electric Motors. Regenerative braking and the vehicles three drive system modes: EV drive mode, Series Hybrid Mode and Parallel hybrid mode are featured

Because of its unique drivetrain which combines a front electric motor, rear electric motor, front-mounted gasoline engine and generator, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV automatically selects one of three unique drivetrain modes for optimal performance and efficiency. The customer can simply drive the vehicle efficiently and can also use driver selectable drive modes to drive even more efficiently.

Outlander PHEV is on sale now with a starting MSRP of $42,998. It is Canada’s only plug-in hybrid SUV with DC Fast Charging capability, providing – 80 per cent charge in under 30 minutes and is the only plug-in hybrid in Canada with a remarkable 10-year or 160,000 km powertrain warranty, 10-year/160,000 km lithium-ion battery warranty and five-year or 100,000 km comprehensive warranty.
