May 27, MISSISSAUGA – Mississauga residents joined MPP Deepak Anand at St. Valentine Elementary School on May 22 for a town hall meeting to talk about local issues.
MPP Anand provided an update from Queen’s Park, focusing on the provincial government’s budget for 2019, which included funding for the Eglinton West LRT and the Eglinton Crosstown West Subway Extension to Pearson Airport. He also mentioned the $3 million funding for six Mississauga-Malton organizations that work in the field of mental health.
He also spoke about projects undertaken and events organized in the riding over the last few months including the Community Clean-up Day at Acorn Place, the Spring Open House at our constituency office, and the Fueling Healthy Minds initiative that centers around student nutrition programs.
Representatives from Metrolinx, Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care and Indus Community Services were on hand to provide information and updates about their services.
The meeting concluded following an extended question and answer session, with questions on the provincial government’s changes to education policy and its impact on students and teachers and the impact of the Regional Governance Review on Mississauga and Peel.
MPP Anand and his team would like to thank all those who attended the meeting. The next town hall meeting is scheduled for September as we take a break for summer events.
