The Fundraising Gala for Brampton West Conservative Candidate Mr. Murarilal Thapliyal on last Sunday at Chandni Victoria Convention Centre was a huge success and fundraiser like no other seen in history of Brampton. It was not just a fundraiser for a candidate, but it seemed like a movement, a belief system where everyone present seemed like an integral part of the campaign right from the word go. Murarilal Thapliyal, a successful lawyer and an active community member from many years, has got lot of support and encouragement from Brampton West residents who so strongly believe in his vision for Brampton and align with Conservative values. For a change, we have a candidate who has long proven track record of giving back to community, more than just a promise. There are numerous people and stories who have been touched in some way or the other with his generosity and help in some way or the other. That was evident from number of people who poured in to support and contribute to this campaign.
The event’s Guest of Honour was Hon. Peter Mackay. Peter MacKay is a partner in the Baker McKenzie Toronto office. Prior to joining the Firm in 2016, Peter MacKay, PC, QC (Privy Council and Queen’s Counsel), served in the Parliament of Canada for over 18 years and in a ministerial post in the Canadian government for almost ten years after the Conservative Party formed a government in 2006. Most recently, he served as Canada’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice until November 2015, a position to which he was appointed in 2013. Prior to this post, Peter served as the Minister of National Defence for six years and held joint cabinet positions as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. During his first five years in the House of Commons, Peter served as House Leader and member of the Board of Internal Economy for the Progressive Conservative caucus. In this capacity he represented the caucus on issues pertaining to management and operations of Parliament. He also served as the Progressive Conservative critic for law enforcement issues, the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage, the Standing Committee on Finance, and the Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada. In May 2003, Peter became the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada’s 23rd leader. He played a pivotal role in the reunification of the Conservative movement in Canada and the formation of the Conservative Party of Canada, serving as its 1st deputy leader.
In his speech, he stressed the importance of balancing Canada’s fiscal deficit, improving trade relations with important key partners for Canada, health of Canadian economy, importance of fuelling small businesses growth and fixing the broken immigration system. He also endorsed the importance of local issues and how a strong candidate with legal background can be such a great representative at Parliament Hill, as he can look after so many legislations which effect common man in long term once passed in both houses. Whatever Peter said in his speech so much resonated with people in the hall and was so well received by one and all.
Murarilal Thapliyal got a rousing reception on stage from his supporters and every word he said was matched with his passion, sincerity and vision to do something better for community and country. He shared his views on current state of affairs and his vision for Brampton West residents.

Ritesh Malik, Fundraising Chair and Dharmesh Mehta, Co-Chair thanked all the attendees for their generosity and contribution to this campaign with their time, energy, positivity, funds and unconditional support. Team Thapliyall is the engine behind this whole campaign and this evening saw what difference a good team can make if they have a leader to drive them. In Murarilal Thapliyal, Brampton West has a strong visionary leader who can ensure Brampton West residents are not just heard, but listened.
As Jack Welch righty said, “when you are not a leader, success is all about growing yourself. But when you become a leader, success is all about growing others” But here we have a person who has been helping others grow along with himself since he started his journey. Leadership role with some authority will only help Murarilal do a job better, which he has been doing anyways all long.
