Mississauga,ON – The Liberal Party of Canada has nominated their first candidate for the 2019 Federal election.
In front of a crowd of over 2,200 people, Navdeep Bains accepted the nomination to be the Liberal party candidate for Mississauga-Malton. He thanked the crowd for their support and committed to continue to work hard as the Member of Parliament. Speaking about the Liberal government’s record, he highlighted that unemployment is at near historic lows and that over 600,000 jobs have been created since the Liberal Party took office in 2015.
Bains first served as the Member of Parliament for Mississauga–Brampton South from 2004 to 2011, and has also served as Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development since being re-elected as the MP for Mississauga—Malton in 2015.
Bains told the crowd that “Although being a Minister has been a highlight of his career, being the Member of Parliament from Mississauga – Malton is still the greatest honour.”
Also, in attendance was the Rt. Honourable Justin Trudeau who reiterated that the Liberal Party will continue to campaign on a platform of positive politics.
