TORONTO: The Nepalese community living in the GTA celebrated their New Year 2075 with various programs. The Shreejansil Nepali Samaj (SNS) organized a reception to exchange greetings.
MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith appreciated the endeavours made by the organization to promote Nepalese culture and traditions. MPP Arthur Potts commended the activities by the Nepalese community to strengthen the diversity of Canada. SNS President Shishir Pandey threw light on the activities carried out by the organization. SNS dancers and singers entertained the guests.
Similarly, NRN Canada and Nepalese Canadian Community Services (NCCS) jointly organized a greeting exchange program next day. A host of speakers including NRN Canada President Gopikrishna Kaphle, NCCS President Bidur KC, NRN ICC member Nabaraj Gurung spoke about conducting programs to promote Nepalese culture. At the program, “Himalayan Vibes”, a Toronto based Nepalese folk music band and trainees of Nepalese folk drum “Madal”, performed various songs and folk instrumental numbers.
Canadian Newa Guthi organized a “Meet & Greet” program at Pashupati Nath Nepali Mandir, Brampton. After the worship program, devotees exchanged greetings. Guests were entertained with Newah ethnic music, songs and hymns by Guthi members. The Nepalese Janjati Association of Canada also organized a grand reception program in Mississauga on the eve of New Year 207
