Toronto, Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Canada, in collaboration with Nepalese Canadian Community Services, recently observed the International Women’s Day 2020 in Toronto with vivid programs . Initiating the program by lighting the lamp, Ms. Parba Shree Gurung , a nonagenarian and senior most lady of Nepalese community, expressed her happiness to be able to attend the program and wished all for the peace progress and prosperity.
MP Hon. Salma Zahid shed light on the role of women to make the society better and happier. She also shared her struggle in Canada as a woman and urged all women to continue their attempts to make their family, community and country prosperous. Another guest, MPP Hon. Doly Begum elucidated on the equality and rights of women. She also emphasized on the need of continued effort of people to make the society a better place. Key note speaker and successful entrepreneur Ms. Nima McIhininerry explained her struggle to succeed in her entrepreneurial path. NRNA Canada President Chiranjibi Ghimire highlighted on importance of observing International women’s Day.
Host of speakers including, Ms. Pramila Basnet of NRNA ICC, Ms. Bimala Sapkota, the Youth coordinator of North Americas, Executive Director of CASSA Ms. Samya Hasan, Employment Specialist Ms. Preet Kiran Sandhu of Skills for Change threw light on women empowerment, generation equality and women’s rights.
