BRAMPTON: New Hope Senior Citizens Club of Brampton welcomed Spring 2018 with a special celebratory meeting on March 28th at Gore Meadows Community Centre in Brampton.
The highlight of the evening was the honoring of community stalwarts Dr. Balbir Momi and Sudhir Handa. Dr. Balbir Momi is a well known Punjabi author, novelist and columnist. He was presented with a Roll of Honour, followed by a Question/Answer session and a narration of how the tragic Indo-Pak partition in 1947 impacted his writing style.
Philanthropist and community advocate Sudhir Handa was honoured for his years of dedicated service towards strengthening Indo-Canadian ties. Mr. Handa has a distinguished record of helping needy families through donations and charity work.
The meeting was also addressed by Simmer Sandhu – Ontario PC MPP candidate from Brampton East, Madhu Sudan Lama, President of Canadian Hindu Association, Manan Gupta, Editor/Publisher of Road Today, Duggal Uncle and others. Members of the Seniors Club whose birthday fall in March & April were presented with certificates by MP Raj Grewal. In the coming months, the club will be honoring Majer Natt (CEO – Asian Food Centre), Puran Singh Pandhi and Homoeopath Ranvir Sharda for meritorious services.
Shambhu Dutt Sharma, President New Hope Senior Citizens thanked the board members for their co-operation. The Club Executive includes Harbhagwan Makkar, Bheem Sain Kalia, Rachhpal Sharma, Ram Murti Joshi, Dinesh Parmar, Ram Parkash, Rajan Vattas, Praful Bhai, Dalip Parikh, Dr. Om Satija, Rajinder Saran, Krishan Kumar, Dharam Vir Chibbar, Bhagwat Pandey and Subash Sharma.
