In Toronto, Ontario Labour Minister Monte McNaughton announces that the government plans to introduce legislation that will ease Ontario’s labour shortage and make it easier for internationally-trained immigrants to start their professional careers. He is joined by MPPs Deepak Anand, (Mississauga-Malton and parliamentary assistant) and Sheref Sabawy, (Mississauga-Erin Mills), as well as Irwin Glasberg, (Ontario’s Fairness Commissioner), and Riddhi Agarwal (founder of Karma Legal Profession). The legislation will remove the requirement for Canadian work experience for licensing and professional registration unless an exemption is granted based on a safety risk. The legislation will also decrease duplicate official language proficiency testing and allow faster professional registration for workers during an emergency.
