Ontario Premier Hon. Doug Ford honored Ramesh Chotai, one of the Founding Members of Canada India Foundation, for his “outstanding entrepreneurship, community leadership and philanthropy,” Thursday, 28 March 2019.
Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Hon. Nina Tangri and Deepak Anand, presented Mr. Chotai the official certificate of honor issued by the Premier.
Mr. Chotai was honored on the occasion of the first-ever celebration of the Indian festival of Holi that Ontario’s Progressive Conservative Caucus organized at Queen’s Park. The celebrations witnessed participation from different Indo-Canadian community organizations including Canada India Foundation, the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, among others.
The Ontario honor for Mr. Chotai comes in the wake of his being bestowed with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award in January 2019 by the President of India Hon. Ramnath Kovind, in the presence of Hon. Sushma Swaraj, India’s Foreign Affair Minister and Hon. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The Pravasi award is India’s highest civilian award for an overseas Indian.
Thanking the Honorable Premier, Mr. Chotai said he was deeply moved by the recognition from the provincial leaders and emphasized that such an honor will give him a fresh impetus to continue serving the Indo-Canadian community.
