Mississauga — Paramount Fine Foods will join more than 150 countries around
the world as they celebrate World Food Day by hosting an awareness event and
fundraiser at its Crestlawn location in Mississauga.
World Food Day, celebrated annually on October 16 since 1981, was created to
bring awareness to world hunger and poverty while inspiring people to make a
change. This year, World Food Day is looking to raise $3 million USD which
translates to one million meals served world-wide.
“Participating in World Food Day was an easy choice for me,” says Mohamed
Fakih, founder and owner of the Paramount Fine Foods chain of restaurants.
“No matter your race, age, religion or gender, everyone should have access to nutritional food. In Canada, we are lucky to have the resources to help others less fortunate and I am proud that Paramount Fine Foods in participating in World Food Day.”
Working with World Central Kitchen, Paramount Fine Foods will be part of World
Food Day’s restaurant take-over (happening in nine major cities across the globe).
Each restaurant is committed to raising a minimum of $5,000 for the effort. The
Paramount Fine Foods fundraising event will take place from 6:30pm- 10pm at
1290 Crestlawn Drive, Mississauga. It will include a three-course meal and
exceptional entertainment.
“It is our hope that our community will join us in our efforts to support World
Food Day by joining us at our event or by making a donation to this cause,” says
Fakih. “This is the perfect opportunity for the world to come together for the
