British Columbia extends indoor mask mandate to children ages 5 and up

In Vancouver, Dr. Bonnie Henry, British Columbia’s provincial health officer, and Health Minister Adrian Dix provide an update on the province’s response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. Dr. Henry announces that the province’s mandatory mask policy for indoor public places now applies to children ages five and older. The update comes as the province’s vaccine mandate for workers and volunteers in long-term care homes and assisted living facilities comes into effect. Unvaccinated employees will be placed on mandatory unpaid leave.
