TORONTO: Social Services Network will hold a virtual event for their third annual Walk for Aging Positively on November 29, 2020.
This year, things have changed for many organizations and even with the current pandemic, Social Services Network has found a way to safely keep their annual walk going, by making it virtual.
To increase its capacity to support the community, the organization has partnered with charities under the umbrella of “Groomanthropy”, an organization established in response to the pandemic to raise the required resources to help sustain charity organizations with their respective programs and services.
This year, the Walk for Aging Positively is the culmination of a series of larger events that are being launched in collaboration with Diabetes Canada, Second Harvest, and Michael Garron Hospital Foundation. These agencies have joined forces with SSN to raise resources, promote each other’s services to their members and pool all the funds to be shared equally amongst the partners.
The Walk for Aging Positively will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on November 29 which will include special presentations from speakers, entertainment and share photos and videos of this year’s participants completing their walk.
To promote a healthy and active lifestyle, all participants will have an opportunity to complete their “virtual walk” anytime between November 14th and November 28th.
To celebrate the community, the organization has requested all who participate to share photos so that they could be posted on the walk day.
Individuals are being encouraged to walk with their partners, friends, family members, and neighbors in their respective bubbles to ensure social distancing. “Keeping healthy while supporting others is a win – a win for all,” a statement released by the group said.
