BRAMPTON, ON – This summer is shaping up to be an exciting event season for Brampton with many festivals, markets, and activities to get residents outdoors enjoying their community.

Kicking everything off on Saturday, June 9, from 11 am to 9 pm in Downtown Brampton is CeleBrampton, a two-time Top 100 Festival and Event in Ontario award winner. This annual one-day community celebration showcases Brampton’s open, friendly, diverse community and provides an opportunity for residents to learn about City initiatives and services. It also highlights the city’s culture, heritage, arts, dance and food with family fun and a variety of local entertainment.

Mayor Linda Jeffrey said: “Summer is yet another time when our community comes together to explore the beautiful city we call home, enjoy free, fun-filled activities and connect with fellow Bramptonians. We hope to you see you at the many festivals, markets and celebrations in Brampton this summer.”

The following Saturday, June 16, the highly-anticipated Downtown Brampton Farmers’ Market will open bright and early at 7 am on Main Street. Market goers have until 1 pm every Saturday to visit farmers, artists and entertainers, and buy farm-fresh produce and artisan products.

Later that day, head to Garden Square for the launch of Saturday Night Movies in Garden Square. Bring a chair and enjoy the shows at 7 pm and 9 pm.

Thursday, June 21, marks the return of the Mount Pleasant Village Market. This neighborhood market, in the heart of the village, has been steadily growing over the past few years. With farmers and vendors presenting unique items for sale, it is a wonderful way to spend your Thursday evenings. The market runs from 4 to 8 pm until Thanksgiving weekend. Don’t forget to mark your calendar for Canada Day celebrations in Chinguacousy Park, when we gather as a community on July 1 to celebrate our nation. Don’t miss all the park has to offer as well as a community art activation, a variety of food options, great musical entertainment and of course, fireworks at 10pm.  Beginning July 2, head down to Garden Square any day of the week to get that cool summer vibe. Garden Square activities will include our first ever Pride celebration, the favourite East Coast Kitchen Party and the ever popular Stomp ’N’ Stampede. Weekly offerings will include YouTube sensations, emerging local talent and a Bollywood film night.

The Rose kicks off a richly diverse 2018 – 2019 season with a summer theatre series, which runs from July 24 – September 7. Enjoy North American’s largest Bhangra competition, in partnership with Flower City Bhangra, August 4, and delight in the World of Jazz Festival in early September, presented right here in downtown Brampton in partnership with local organization B-Jazzed.

These and many more events and activities can be found in the City of Brampton’s 2018 Visitor Guide or at www.brampton.ca/events. Pics: Twitter
