Provincial police say two boys have died after the snowmobiles they were riding on crashed through thin ice on Lake Muskoka.

They say the incident happened shortly after midnight on Monday morning while five people on three snowmobiles were driving on the frozen water near Gravenhurst, Ont.

They say all three vehicles crashed into the icy water, killing 15-year-old Alexander Martin of Gravenhurst and 11-year-old Mitchell Paris of Bracebridge, Ont.

Police did not provide details on the relationship between the boys or the status of the other three people involved in the incident.
