OTTAWA: Call it what you will – a virtual internship, remote internship or working online, it all means the same thing – it’s a work experience where the work is done virtually and remotely rather than in person.
It’s just like a regular internship experience, except you gain experience while working remotely, rather than being physically present in the office or job location.
Due to COVID-19, the Summer Leadership Program 2021 will be administered as a virtual internship experience.
When completing a virtual internship many of the same aspects of a traditional in-person internship still exist including, meetings with supervisors or teammates, completing a mix of individual and group projects, and learning about overall company culture.
Successful candidates will work remotely from home and have a supervisor oversee their work. Interns will be in regular contact with their supervisor/team via virtual methods such as video call, phone call, email and instant messenger.
The Summer Leadership Program (SLP) is a unique political internship opportunity developed to invest in the future success of young people from across the country.
The program gives young people an opportunity to contribute to Prime Minister Trudeau’s team while gaining vital job experience serving in the offices of Members of Parliament, Ministers’ Offices, The Prime Minister’s Office and the Liberal Research Bureau.
Program Duration: May 3 – August 20, 2021; Applications Are Now Open; Applications Close – January 15, 2021.
