The North York Community celebrated this Christmas season with WEConnect CS team at Parkway Forest Community Centre on Deember 23.
. By 4:30 pm most of the families had joined in. One could see the excitement on children’s faces as they entered the decorated hall ready for Santa’s arrival, for some it was for the first time they will be meeting Santa.
While the parents played Bingo, children enjoyed the Christmas movie in the same hall. The event was well organised by WEConnect CS. All children were at their best behaviour for Santa. The evening was full of fun, prizes, laughter and gifts.
Santa Claus arrived at 7:00 p.m. and was with WEConnect directors, staff and volunteers, shaking hands to officially welcome and launch the festivities with Parkway Families, most of them newcomers to Canada.
As Santa arrived with Mrs. Claus, children screamed with pleasure, each one trying to put their best foot forward, while reminding others to behave. This is one of the most magical times of the year for little ones – time to sit with Santa and share their wish list, receive their presents and get photographed with Mr. & Mrs. Claus. And for parents? It’s time to capture fond memories with photos of their young ones with Santa.
Children after receiving their presents joined their parents at the tables to enjoy delicious refreshments. On this occasion, Sejal spoke about the services offered by WEConnect to support newcomers and seniors in the area. Some of the area residents also shared their experiences with the organization that helped ease their settlement when they were new to Canada. – Report by Jayashree (WEConnect)
